2 Fun Things To Play With Young Competitive Kids

Raising a competitive toddler of my own has convinced me that some people are just born with a desire to compete. My young son is always wanting to play a game of some sort, and he always wants to win. Not that I mind. I enjoy competing too, and I look forward to when he is old enough to play games designed for people older than four years old.

But for the time being we concentrate on games that he can play. He is a giant sports fan and has gravitated towards two toys the most. These toys are inexpensive and are designed to be fun for young kids, yet are also fun for adults. They are excellent activities to do with your children at home.

Tabletop Air Hockey

Anyone who has been to an arcade or bowling alley can imagine the sound of an air hockey table. From the sounds of the quarters being inserted on the sliding feeder, to the clinking of the puck against the sides of the table, to the humming of the motor, there is great imagery and good memories about air hockey.

Nowadays you can bring a little of that same feel into your home. Tabletop air hockey games are small and can fit easily on a table or on a floor. And many of them have a motor that actually blows air though the playing surface.

While the small size of the set makes for some interesting games, they are a blast especially for kids. The fast paced nature of the tabletop air hockey sets make for great competition. I also enjoy the fact that there aren't many pieces to keep track of and the tabletop air hockey set can be stored easily.

Indoor Basketball Goals

Alright, who doesn't enjoy a game of hoops? Basketball is the easiest game to play, and is a great way to pass the time. You pick up a ball and shoot it at a hoop. If it goes in you're happy, if you miss, you're sad.

Basketball is also enjoyable for small kids, even toddlers. Basketball goals for toddlers are a great way to get competitive little ones an outlet for that competition. Whether it is trying to outshoot mom or dad, or seeing how many shots in a row they can make, indoor basketball goals pass the time very well and are great ways to spend time with your child.

When my son first got his basketball goal I would sit in the living room and watch tv while I shot at his new hoop to see how many in a row I could make. Since the hoop was just about 2 feet off the ground my counts got pretty high.

Basketball is competitive and fun whether you are a toddler or a senior. With inexpensive indoor basketball goals for kids you can spend some quality time and throw in some good, fun competition.

These Make Great Gifts

My son got his tabletop air hockey set and his indoor basketball goal as gifts. People know he loves sports and he was very happy to receive these toys. Even though we have had them for a couple of years now he continues to play them, and he enjoys playing with me and my wife.

It is a great thing when you watch your child play with something that they truly enjoy. If you have a sports-loving child - even a toddler - look into getting a tabletop air hockey set and/or an indoor basketball goal. Whether you just watch you child play or join in on the fun you will get a kick out of seeing them play with these toys.
